Work programme
The five work streams of the OCVS work programme are:
The OCVS works with other agencies to respond to the community and voluntary sector's priorities for capacity development. A key contribution in this area was the development of Keeping It Legal E Ai Ki Te Ture with the NZ Federation of Voluntary Welfare Organisations. We have also been working with others to help community groups access advice during the recession. |
Having good data and information on the community and voluntary sector is important for government's and communities' planning, decision-making and resource allocation. Significant progress has been made in recent years through the Study of the Non-profit Sector and the OCVS continues to co-ordinate projects focused on further data collection and publication. |
The OCVS works across the whole of government to identify and address policies that hamper the ability of the community and voluntary sector to do its work. |
The OCVS promotes good practice by government agencies in their interaction with community and voluntary organisations. The focus of this work is on improving funding arrangements and participation in policy development
Since 2002, government has completed significant work in response to the Government Policy on Volunteering and as part of the Government Volunteering Work Programme. In 2008, this work was summarised and reported to Cabinet in the document Government Support for Volunteering 2002–2008. |
